Life Skills On Pine says ‘I Count’

    August 12, 2011

It’s no secret that The Christie Centre is in full support of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Just last week, to show support and spread the word, Life Skills On Pine held a DisabiliTea. Friends, families and clients were invited to attend, and the turn out was encouraging. Everyone enjoyed a lovely morning tea and received information on the what the NDIS is and the benefits to not only our clients but people with disability Australia wide.
A big thanks to Jenny and Karen and the Client Committee at Life Skills on Pine for their work in running the event.
The ultimate aim for the NDIS was to gain 100,000 people to say YES to the scheme and the Australian Government would take the next step to make the NDIS a reality.
We have just received word that although the total stands at just over 54,000 yes votes “The Federal Government will take the first steps to establish a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), as recommended by the Productivity Commission and advocated by the disability sector.” The full report can be found on the NDIS website
