On Friday 2nd September the Christie Centre annual spring ball was held at Sacred Heart Hall. The theme was inspired by the 1980s; the fashion was colourful and the hair was big! Over 150 clients, families and friends dusted off their puffy sleeves and skinny ties, groomed their mullets and grooved to the sounds of the decade energetically performed by local act Hard To Handle. People moved and grooved all night, with the dancefloor rarely empty. A particularly well attended rendition of the Nutbush was undoubtedly a highlight of the evening. Prizes were given throughout the night for best dressed, most authentic outfit, best celebrity lookalike and best dancers. There was a traditional 80s bedroom set for official photo corner and a photo board so everyone could look like a celebrity.
The Spring Ball is arguably the biggest event on the Christie Centre calendar, and always a popular event. This year there was a relaxed BYO style which everyone seemed to enjoy.
A big thank you to the Spring Ball committee for all their hard work in arranging the evening, and to the volunteers who helped set up and pack up the hall on the day. Also to the bar staff for keeping the drinks flowing and ArtRageUs clients and staff for creating the photo corner. The event would not be possible without the time and effort offered by countless staff, clients and friends.
