Life Skills on Pine was established to cater for the increased numbers of young people transitioning from school through the “Futures for Young Adults” program. The facility was designed to support young people to develop their life skills. Ideally located near the CBD it allows independent access to shops, banks and local businesses.
Life Skills on Pine was opened on 6th September, 2001. The Department of Human Services supported a capital grants application and provided a $ for $ subsidy.
Currently 35 adults with disability receive support from this site throughout the week. Space is becoming an issue. In 2011 plans will be considered to extend the building.
